Heavy-Duty Logistics for Industrial Leaders

Relocating an industrial facility is one of the most complex logistical challenges a business can face. Unlike a standard office move, an industrial relocation involves heavy machinery, hazardous environments, and millions of dollars in inventory that must be tracked with absolute precision. Whether you are relocating a manufacturing facility, a high-volume warehouse, or a distribution center, the margin for error is zero. A dropped machine or a lost pallet can halt production and cost your company thousands of dollars per hour.

Hollander Storage and Moving serves as the industrial moving partner for companies that demand reliability. We are the professionals who have top-notch experience with the most complex industrial moving projects. For over 130 years, we have taken good care of our industrial customers. We understand that your equipment is the lifeblood of your operation. We have the experience to ensure an efficient, effective, on-time, and on-budget industrial move, regardless of the scale or distance.

The Hollander Advantage

Decades of Engineering Expertise

We have been moving heavy assets since 1888. This longevity means we have encountered every possible scenario, from moving delicate CNC machines to transporting massive injection molds. We do not just bring muscle; we bring engineering expertise. We understand the center of gravity, load distribution, and structural integrity required to move industrial assets safely.

Minimizing Operational Downtime

The biggest cost in an industrial move is often not the truck, but the lost production time. Our primary goal is to minimize downtime. We establish phased moves to ensure you maintain operational continuity. By moving your facility in stages—relocating one production line while others remain active—we help you keep your revenue streams flowing during the transition.

Safety First Culture

Industrial sites are high-risk environments. We prioritize safety above all else. Our crews are trained in OSHA safety protocols and best practices for heavy material handling. We protect your facility, your equipment, and your people. When you hire Hollander, you are hiring a team that takes risk mitigation seriously.

Comprehensive Industrial Moving Services

Our project managers will work with you and your team to build the best plan. We offer a turnkey solution that covers every aspect of the physical relocation.

Warehouse Racking Services

The steel skeleton of your warehouse is just as important as the inventory it holds. We handle Warehouse racking disassembly and reassembly.

• Teardown: Our crews systematically dismantle pallet racking, mezzanines, and conveyo r systems.
• Transport: We bundle and band the steel components for safe transport.
• Re-Installation: We rebuild the racking system at your new location according to your updated floor plan, ensuring it is level, anchored, and compliant with seismic and safety codes.

Inventory and Material Handling

Moving stock requires strict organization. We plan for the systematic loading of inventory and production materials.

• Sequential Loading: We load inventory in a sequence that allows for immediate access at the destination.
• Inventory Control: We can work with your Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track pallets and ensure that SKUs are placed in the correct bin locations upon arrival.
• Raw Materials: We move everything from raw steel and plastic resin to finished goods, ensuring they are protected from the elements during transit.

Project Management and Planning

An industrial move cannot be improvised. We develop project plans, timelines, and budgets months in advance.

• On-Site Project Management: A dedicated project manager is present on the floor to oversee the crews and coordinate with your facility managers.
• Floor Planning: We assist in validating the layout of the new facility to ensure your equipment and racking will fit efficiently.

Disposition and Storage

You should not move what you do not need. We assist with the storage, disposal, or disposition of excess material and equipment.

• Asset Liquidation: We can help remove obsolete machinery and scrap metal.
• Industrial Storage: If your new facility is not ready, we offer secure warehousing for heavy machinery and inventory.

Post-Installation Services

Our job does not end when the last desk is placed. We offer post-installation services (often called u0022Day 2u0022 services). This includes fine-tuning adjustments, drawer alignments, and addressing any u0022punch listu0022 items. We also handle the removal and recycling of all packing materials.rn

Our Industrial Moving Process

1. Site Audit and Technical Survey

We conduct a thorough walkthrough of both your current and future facilities. We measure overhead door clearances, check floor load capacities, and identify any rigging challenges.

2. Strategy and Budgeting

We present a detailed proposal. We break down the costs for rigging, transportation, and labor. We develop a timeline that aligns with your production schedules.

3. Pre-Move Prep

We work with your team to prepare the facility. This involves tagging assets, draining fluids from machinery, and creating a staging area for packing.

4. The Phased Move

We execute the move according to the phase plan. We might move the warehouse stock first, followed by the assembly lines, and finally the administrative offices.

5. Recommissioning Support

We assist with the final placement and leveling of equipment. We remove all packing debris and strapping, leaving your facility ready for power-up.

Tips for a Successful Plant Relocation

Check Your Utilities Early

Before moving heavy machinery, verify that the new facility has the correct power voltage, air pressure, and water connections. Waiting until the machine is on the floor to discover a voltage mismatch can cause expensive delays.

Audit Your Racking

Before paying to move old racking, inspect it for damage. Bent uprights or rusted beams should be replaced rather than relocated. It is often cost-effective to buy new racking for the new site and scrap the old system.

Plan for Anchoring

Industrial equipment and racking must be anchored to the concrete floor. Ensure you have the drilling permits and the correct concrete specifications at the new site before our crews arrive to reinstall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you move heavy CNC machines?

Yes. We have extensive experience moving CNC machines, lathes, presses, and injection molding equipment. We use specialized rigging gear to ensure these precision instruments are moved without disrupting their calibration.

Do you offer weekend or holiday moves?

Yes. We understand that production downtime kills profitability. We can schedule phased moves and heavy lifting during weekends, holidays, or plant shutdowns to minimize the impact on your output.

How do you handle hazardous materials?

We can assist in the logistics of moving certain industrial materials. For hazardous chemicals or waste, we work with certified environmental partners to ensure compliant transport.

Do you reassemble the racking?

Yes. We provide full warehouse racking disassembly and reassembly. Our crews are experienced with major racking brands and configurations, including drive-in, push-back, and standard selective rack.

What is "Rigging"?

Rigging is the use of mechanical equipment (cranes, gantries, hoists) to lift and move objects that are too heavy for manual labor or standard forklifts. Our team includes certified riggers who specialize in complex lifts.

Can you store our machinery temporarily?

Yes. We offer heavy-duty storage solutions. If there is a gap between your move-out and move-in dates, we can store your machinery in our secure warehouse until your new floor is ready.

Do you handle the electrical disconnects?

We handle the physical production equipment disassembly. For electrical, water, and gas disconnects, we typically work alongside your facilities team or licensed tradesmen to ensure code compliance.

How do you track inventory during the move?

We plan for the systematic loading of inventory. We can use a labeling system that mirrors your WMS to ensure that pallets are loaded and unloaded in a specific order, maintaining inventory integrity.

What happens to old equipment we don't want?

We handle the disposal or disposition of excess material. We can arrange for scrap removal, recycling, or transport to a liquidation buyer, saving you the hassle of dealing with unwanted assets.
