Hollander United’s parent company United Van Lines recently published a blog titled ‘Top States People Moved to and From in 2019’ which looked at moving trends across the United States from last year. Today we are going to summarize some of the main findings, including which states people most often moved to, and which states they moved from. Top state destinations were determined by several factors including cost-of-living, natural beauty, and state property taxes.
To better understand these moving trends, United Van Lines decided to look at some of the determining factors behind why people chose to move to the top 3 states.
Idaho – Idaho offers a change of pace for those looking for a slower life pace. It also hosts a vast amount of natural beauty. The majority of out-of-state movers who relocated to Idaho did so for retirement (36% of movers).
Oregon – A strong economy and local job growth make Oregon a great place to relocate, especially for younger generations. Recent job growth in technology and manufacturing have attracted many people searching for better employment opportunities.
Arizona – Like Idaho, many people relocated to the warm climate of Arizona for retirement and lifestyle changes.

Great experience with Hollander’s crew: Dominic R, Alex P, and Chris C. They were contracted (military move) to deliver some of our things that had been packed up and stored for a year, in a different location. They were professional and worked without complaints in the heat, placing our items carefully where I requested. They maneuvered a large, deep freezer down a tight staircase easily. They were thorough in helping me check to make sure all our things were accounted for, since it had changed locations/companies a few times before making it here.
