As our nation and the world continue to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to share how our company is responding and committing to the health and safety of our customers and staff members. Moving companies have been deemed essential businesses and are allowed to continue operation throughout the United States, in order to help people get to where they need to go during the crisis. Across the industry, companies are implementing social distancing and safety precautions to maintain health standards set forth by organizations such as the CDC.

Here are the protocols being enacted by moving companies associated with UniGroup (the parent company of Mayflower, United Van Lines, UniGroup Worldwide, and UniGroup Logistics):

  • Limiting in-person contact: moving companies across the country are implementing virtual-estimate technologies, in order to avoid unnecessary contact during in-home surveys. While in-home services cannot be avoided when it comes to packing and loading, we are committed to limiting person-to-person contact as much as possible.
  • Staff members of UniGroup are working remotely: instead of in the office. Customer service for agents, drivers, and customers is still available in the same capacity as when staff is in-office, and in accordance with the same business hours.
  • Providing essential services: We are open for business and are committed to continuing to conduct business safely.

Sanitization and Disinfection Techniques

In accordance with best practices put forth by the CDC, Hollander is implementing the following safety protocols:

  • Hand washing whenever possible, hand sanitizing when a sink is not available.
  • Social distancing of moving crews – maintaining the CDC suggestion of leaving 6 feet between people whenever possible.
  • Use of sanitation wipes when needed.

Ask your Hollander agent about the use of a virtual move survey to plan your next move. A virtual survey is similar to a video chat, and can provide a lot of information without the need of an in-person survey.
