When moving over an especially long distance, it can be confusing enough to coordinate the safe delivery and transportation of your household goods that all fit into a moving truck (no matter the size!). But what about the things you need to move, but can’t fit in a moving truck? If you’re moving long distances and aren’t driving your car from point a to point b yourself, it can be hard to know the best way to ship or move your vehicle in a way that’s cost effective, safe, and efficient. If you’re wondering how to go about moving your car across the country without driving it yourself, we’ve got all the answers you’ve been searching for.
If you’re tackling a long-distance move, odds are you’ve already considered the best way to go about shipping and moving your household items (which is by using Hollander Storage & Moving’s expert, full-service moving services of course!). However, now that you’ve gotten the planning out of the way for your household items, it can be hard to know where to start to not only decide how you’re going to move your car to your new destination, but also how best to go about the entire process itself.
The first thing you might consider when faced with transporting your car long-distance is by just road-tripping it out to your new home yourself. There are some perks and drawbacks to this depending on your situation, and is more suited to some than others.
If you’re single, a part of a couple that seeks adventure and maybe doesn’t have other responsibilities or factors holding them back from driving out to your new destination, having the unique experience of taking a road trip to your new home could be really fun and exciting, and also a great way to see the country.
However, for those with children, pets, or other members of the family that maybe require extra care or can’t especially do long road trips (think fish, turtles, etc.), driving your car across the country by yourself isn’t especially realistic.
So what’s the easiest way of transporting your car to your new home? The most simple way to move your car across the country is by shipping it directly to your new address.
This allows you to pick a transport date, get an exact timeline, and know your car is in good and capable hands. It also saves you from subjecting your vehicle to a lot of unneeded and unnecessary wear and tear. Though this option may not seem particularly cost-effective, the peace of mind, convenience, and professional nature of this service is nearly invaluable.
To ship your car, you’re going to need to make sure to choose a transport date that works for you and your schedule, and to have all of your license, registration, and insurance information in its most recent state. If you’re moving to another country, you’ll want to research their laws or rules that come with shipping your car overseas.
Make sure to empty out your vehicle – and we mean it! Not only just valuables, but everything in your car needs to come back to ensure that nothing is misplaced or lost.

Great experience with Hollander’s crew: Dominic R, Alex P, and Chris C. They were contracted (military move) to deliver some of our things that had been packed up and stored for a year, in a different location. They were professional and worked without complaints in the heat, placing our items carefully where I requested. They maneuvered a large, deep freezer down a tight staircase easily. They were thorough in helping me check to make sure all our things were accounted for, since it had changed locations/companies a few times before making it here. They were so helpful and courteous – I am very happy with my experience and would definitely recommend them!

The driver was the head of the crew, and he was on top of everything. He made the experience working with Hollander Moving a pleasure. We have used others before but it was our first time using Hollander. Everything turned out great.

Every employee I worked with was courteous, professional, and exceedingly competent. I was nervous about the packing and long distance move (from Illinois to New Mexico, October 2009) and Hollander helped make the move as smooth as possible. Not a thing was damaged or broken

I would recommend Hollander to any company thinking about switching vendors, and any family making a move. A Hollander rep even stopped by my new place when they were unloading just to check on things.
Wonderful service – first class!

Everything Hollander has done was over the top. It was courteous people, polite, caring. Their friendliness was over the top. There was one member of the crew who’d been a friend for 30 years, and the rest was family. I couldn’t say enough about them.

I recently moved from Chicago to Tampa and expected a few road bumps along the way but was pleasantly surprised when everything from loading to delivery was flawless. Everyone I came in contact with was very professional and knowledgable. I highly recommend Hollander Moving and Storage as they are a class act.

This move envolved packing and delivery to four different destinations. Attention to detail and coordination were vital and effectively executed by Tony R driver and his crew. Ardene did a great job coordinating everything. The entire group were both extremely pleasant and efficient.
